Overview

The goal of this project was a renovation and expansion of existing student facilities within Weill Cornell’s main campus. The creation of the new Feil Family Student Center accommodates the students’ need for more dedicated student space and amenities, as well as modernize the educational space and infrastructure in order to bring it up to par with peer institutions. Phase 1 of the project involved the construction of 5 new classrooms as well as student gathering space. Each classroom features flexible room configurations and enhanced information technology capabilities. Phase 2 encompasses 12,500 SF of space and involves the creation of a new Educational and Student center, referred to as the “Student Hearth”, which features a new steel and glass staircase creating a better connection between the library and the new education spaces. The Student Hearth has lounges and flexible meetings rooms that are available for use by students as well as use for educational and recreational purposes.
